the love was palpable. their love for each other. their parents’ love for their children. the friends who had traveled from far and wide. i found myself thinking more than once how incredibly amazing to have the privilege to document such love and two people so clearly meant to be knit together by marriage.

she started getting ready and was surprised by a scrapbook of their relationship. from the first emails, to notes and pictures along the way, it was so neat to see her relive those moments just hours before they became husband and wife. knowing these two, the wedding day is just another page in a very long book of a life they will live side by side and i am thrilled to have been the one to photograph it for them.

these are just a peek. i hope to be back in the week with more.

the amazing succulent centerpieces and vibrant florals are by pollen floral art. her stunning dress was by watters & watters. the ceremony was held at the texas baptist children’s home chapel & reception was held at heritage oaks in georgetown. i was happy to have melissa of something blue shooting for me and sharing in the fun. wedding design and styling by debra with epic design and build.

this blushing bride wanted a classic, traditional portrait with a spanish feel to compliment the theme of her wedding and i not only adore the light in these images, but the location really nailed the look she was going for. i am always so overjoyed when i get to share a vision with a bride!

she brought her mother and two sisters with her and i think we laughed more than we shot portraits. believe it or not, i think it was about 102 degrees out that day and she didn’t show it one bit! the cutest part of the session was when dad came to meet us at the end. the father of 3 girls, this is his first wedding and he was positively tickled to see his daughter in her wedding dress.

we chose a 16×20 canvas for display at the reception and it already has a loving home in her parents’ house all picked out for it- i’ve marked the chosen image below as ‘bride’s choice’. enjoy!

meg is a good friend from high school and college who grew up around weddings.  her talented mother, sally jones, is a wedding coordinator in dallas who has been in business for decades and i have been lucky to attend many of her fabulous events.  meg had one piece of advice for me before my wedding (okay maybe more than one, but this one stuck in my mind).  she told me to get a new perfume for my wedding, use it on my wedding day and my honeymoon and then put it away and only pull it out on special occasions like anniversaries. that way it would always remind me of my wedding day and be a great sensory memory.

well of course being the scatterbrain that i am, i completely forgot to heed her advice in advance but have since heard her share this same idea with others and wished that i had paid more attention at the time.

today i took a quick shower and jumped out on my way to meet up with a bride and realized i was out of my regular hair product.  a quick trip below the sink yielded a random old bottle of curl enhancer from a brand i don’t remember ever buying, but i pulled it out and the minute the smell hit my nose i remembered… i bought this when i had my hair done for my wedding.  they didnt carry my usual brand but i was so pleased with how my curls turned out that day, i bought the product.

so its not a fancy bottle of perfume, but i’ve been walking around all day with random whiffs of my wedding day in the air making me smile.

i have gotten so much fun wedding interest and some emails with great questions this week.  so glad people are interested in the free engagement sign-in book for 2011 wedding clients that book this month. (details and pics below!)  i thought i’d take a second to answer a few of the common questions i get over email and in-person when i meet with my brides.

will a second photographer shoot my wedding with you?
YES!  all of my wedding packages include second shooters.  i use talented, fun, reliable photographers.  trust me, if you pick ME to spend your wedding day with you, you’ll enjoy the fun people that i hire to second for me :)

do the packages include the digital negatives?
again, YES!  the images that i take are a documentary of your wedding day, they tell a story as a whole and i want you to have them all!

can we post your images online and on facebook?
of course!  in the end, the images are yours and i love love to see my couples sharing their images with friends and family online.

do you give discounts for friday or sunday weddings?
sorry, i don’t!  i take a limited number of weddings and portraits each month and i put the same effort and energy into your wedding no matter what day of the week you get hitched!

do you offer customized packages if my wedding doesn’t perfectly fit your offerings?
sure thing- send me a note and let’s talk!  we can put together the right package for your big day, the packages are just there to give you a general idea of what i offer.

and my favorite question of the week…

do you ever wear high heels to weddings like jasmine star does?
i’ll give that one a big fat ‘no freaking way’.  i’ll be dressed nicely enough to be mistaken for a wedding guest, but my shoes will be 100% practical :)

have i mentioned that i love weddings??  in case i haven’t said so lately, its true- i love weddings!  what a lucky couple to be married at the always beautiful vintage villas on such a beautiful day.  despite the heat, the ceremony was just wonderful and the light was all kinds of glowy beautiful!

i loved the flowers done by bouquets of austin.  they were perfectly summery and the limes added a festive touch.  the bundt cake was a fun twist on the traditional as well.  such fun ideas and goodness gracious, a beautiful couple!!
